Pench National Park gets its name from Pench river that flows through it. Most of the area of the Tiger reserve is covered by small hills and a few plains. The forest is mostly dry decidious through which run a number of streams and nullahs. Teak and its associates moyan, mahua, mokha, skiras, tendu, bija, achar, garari, aonla, bhaman, ghont, baranga, amaltas, kihamali, khair, bhirra, and palas dominate the forest. Bamboo occurs sparsely, restricted to some valleys.

Home to Tiger, leopard, Jungle Cat, Hyaena, Wolf, Mongoose, Sloth bear,Spotted Deer, Sambar, Barking deer, Nilgai, Wild Boar, Bison, as well as Fresh water crocodiles(!?), chameleon, several species of snakes and ahuge number of bird species, Pench is a nature lover's paradise.
