The woodpecker and the squirrel
It happened on a cloudy September day, an amusing encounter
A lesser Flameback woodpecker was indeed an uncommon visitor and the jungle babblers were all very curious
But the flameback did not really care much, a proud and majestic bird that he is
He was hungry and food was what he was searching for....
He did find plenty to eat in the old Babool tree
And he ate heartily
When he had had his fill, he stretched himself
Preened a bit
And went to sleep
Unknown to him he was sleeping in the path frequented by an Indian palm squirrel
The squirrel inspected the Flameback carefully
And nipped the surprised Flameback
They then had a face to face confrontation and settled it amicably
After which the Flameback slept for some more time
