I saw 2 Indian palm squirrel’s at Mcquaire shopping centre pet store yesterday, they where for sale, price $1250 per squirrel.
the assistant couldn’t tell me if they were desexed.

Thanks. If I am not mistaken Indian Palm Squirrels are classified as pests in Australia (or at-least some parts of)

Isn't it fun the things one does has a parent, that maybe we wouldn't normally do,

You forgot to mention – UhUh had to be handled very carefully – like a neonate – touching him only after washing hands and keeping his basket sterile all the times till he started venturing out on his own.
You also omitted that he was oh-so-scared to even look towards the sky when he was taken outside for the first couple of times.
