Your thinking is correct!

When I was younger I have done hang gliding, rock climbing, long distance motorcycling and more. Practiced atleast three, make that four professions. Made my dreams come true. All with a degree of success. Unfortunately now just to keep the things I have started going takes so much of my time that I cannot do anything else… …

That is what is bugging me – For example I wanted to take up flying, now that I can afford to, but I cannot spare the time to go live somewhere else and learn to fly

I have written this several times in my journal – hence my previous message 😉

i think you’re too sedate and settled in life…and thats why i suggested what i suggested…now don’t tell me playing RPGs with your son is your idea of adventure…
P.S. apologies if i’ve offended any sensibilities.

attending board meetings – I do
touring – I can’t
washing – I do
learning foreign cultures/histories – I do
exporing the psyche – I do
to changing diapers – I do

It is not that there is nothing which I do not want to do – The things I want to do are not possible due to the dreams I dreamt and they came true – Like I say I am now a prisoner of my own dreams – choose your dreams very carefully…

The only thing on the list of “want to do” and also fits in the “can do” category is Origami.

Guess will pick it up again… …

I once came upon this wonderful idea, where a famous writer kept himself busy in-between work periods by devoting an entire year to self-mastering any particular field. He would pick subjects as diverse as aeronautics to aromatherapy to learning japanese or mountain-trekking. It also helped him to be a better writer.

It helps to conciously develop skills irrelevant to one’s full-time profession. I always believed that life is a continous learning process and humans should be able manage a wide array of activites ranging from attending board meetings, touring, washing, learning foreign cultures/histories, exporing the psyche to changing diapers…. “Specialization is for insects!” – RD again.

–>do you know you sound mildly neurotic if not suicidal…not that i consider that a problem…try recklessness…B.A.S.E. diving maybe…

Find something you can be passionate about

That is the quest!! That precisely is the quest. Yes I have hit a mid-life crisis and it is not marriage and children – It is because all my dreams even the wildest ones have already come true and as I have written before, ad nauseum, I am now a prisoner of my own dreams… …

Anyway dont take this too seriously – I pass thru this once every couple of months.

“Readers Digest when I should be working is perfect vehicle for a guilt trip BUT then there *is* no work to be done. “
>>I used to find some articles interesting before. But i now feel that they take a rather holistic aproach to everything which can get quite boring after a while. Reader’s digest is a way of life for a lot of people though.

“May be I take life too seriously. How does one learn to live a purposeless life? “
>>Find something you can be passionate about, does’nt even have to be related to your qualifications or acquired skills. Don’t tell me you’ve hit mid-life crisis already. Does marriage, children and comfort zones do this to e’body. In which case, i’m not marrying.
