Swati pointed out to me – I have been avoiding coming to the office just because I am forced to work on a Winduhs machine.

Must agree that it is true and a bit childish. But on the flip side there is a lull in work and I am spending some time away from the computer which is not such a bad thing.

Not that I am doing anything productive am currently addicted to solving nonograms on my Palm (as in M505 😉 am also catching up with my sleep deficit and cricket… …

  • Here are some ways to make working on a M$ OS less painful! …

    1) Virtual desktops – I like to keep my apps organised with one category to one desktop, admin tools on desktop 1, browser desktop on desktop 2 and so on

    Try HoverDesk

    2) Copy by selection and middle button paste

This works fine with cygwin apps… when I need to check mail during those rare breaks while playing GTA3.. I open up an rxvt running bash and then ssh (openssh) onto my server and read my mails!)

You can also get XFree86+KDE3 going I guess.

    3) Clipboard history

This is one “Kool” feature that I miss even on my linux desktop. KDE is way too heavy just for this one feature.

    4) KNewsTicker, Xine, Gkrelmn, WorldClock

There is a win32 gkrellm and there was this nice utility distributed by Iridium(The failed telecom company) that still remains one of the best worldclocks I’ve ever seen.

    5) Multi tabbed Konsole
    6) Mosfet Liquid theme

I guess these two might be possible under cygwin…5 is definitely possible .. 6 should be too.

Cygwin combines the Unix way doing things with the BSOD thrown in so that people don’t forget what OS they are using 😉

    Kingsly

PS: Do I get a treat from Swati for giving you reasons to get back to the office ?? :o)

    • Telling him to download all that crap and then expecting a treat from Swati…. How Cheap ? 😀

You either send him all the above stuff you mentioned or just send a copy of RH8.1, whichever is sooner 😉

      😛

      • Didn’t they just get cable ?
