43! aka Slipping into a Suit.

I turn 43 today…

Yes! I skipped an entry for the year which is  “answer to the question of live, universe and everything”. So what have I been up to in the past two years.

A lot, but most of it is so personal that I cannot write it here – Simply put we are a very close knit family and did not realize what impact it will have to be responsible for two more people. Just having a big enough house is not enough to ensure that you still have the freedom to do whatever you want. All that thankfully has been sorted out now.

At 41 I had written about SANIsoft being on a path – despite all the going on in my personal life I can proudly say that work never suffered and has progressed much beyond what either myself or Swati envisaged.Turn over has more than doubled and by December or January we should have our second office ready.

As the CTO I firmly believe my primary job is to make sure the company’s technology strategy serves its business strategy. That is precisely what I have been working towards, my technical managers whom I started training, nearly three years ago, to take over large parts of what I use to do are doing a great job. Which leaves me with more free time to look deeper into the business. Unfortunately that means I am attending meetings, learning management skills and to some extent marketing. On the technical front of business all I am needed to do is suggest system architecture.

Yes! I am still coding on my own pet projects and keeping abreast all the happenings in the PHP world but am increasingly finding it difficult to take time out where I could just sit and code. That has to be remedied!

On a more recent front Swati gifted me with an iMac for the birthday, so now all my photography post processing workflow will shift to that.

We brought in my birthday by celebrating with a friend’s family and talking till very early morning. Since morning it has been a steady flow of good wishes on Twitter, SMS and Email. Since it is a non working day today I plan to spend the rest of the day watching whatever Aasim has recorded for me over the week, tweaking the iMac, sleeping and whatever…

  • Hey, belated Happy Birthday. Wish you all the best 🙂 Have a great year ahead.
