Striped Tiger (Danaus genutia)

The Common Tiger (Danaus genutia) belongs to the “Crows and Tigers” butterflies, that is, the danainae group of the Brush-footed butterflies family. The butterfly is also called Striped Tiger in India to differentiate it from the equally common Plain Tiger Danaus http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danaus_genutia

  1. Beautiful capture of the striped tiger on the lantana.
The diagonal piositioning of the b.fly in the frame makes it more appealing. The green BG providing a lovely contrast to the rich orange tones of the subject and its perch. I detect a slight blur on the left wing…wonder whether the wings were in motion..

    Thanks for sharing this beauty..

  2. @iris-hues yes the butterfly was fluttering its wings – thanks for the comment

Seen on my Flickr home page. (?)

  3. Lovely timing and great clarity. Slightly angular placement makes it interesting.
