Between Heaven and Hell

This is my picture for the theme Toys. With Aasim having toys and then some more toys the choice was a diffcult one. Finally decided upon using something simple and playing with light. The effect show is the result of a flashlight and a table lamp. A larger version is here, some other pictures which I took for the challenge are here. I particularly like the last one which I call Aladdin at the cave of wonders šŸ˜‰

Just finished gorging ourselves on Hyderabadi Biryani and ice cold Coke

The temperature outside continues to be hellish.

  • Amazing snap. For a second I though you had rendered this with some software.. I mean its so good… it feels unnatural šŸ˜‰

    • he he.

Thanks, now that gives me an idea to recreate it using legoCAD and POVray

      • I agree with Kalyan, though number 6 is a little poorly lit on the left side. The rest of the pictures are amazing.

        • Thanks, Actually was trying to make Aladdin in no 6 look sinister, split personality type – but the Disney figures are too strongly stereotyped for such a stunt.

  • Awesome!

This is an amazing picture. The shadow, the reflection, and the beam of light is aptly captured.

    • Re: Awesome!

      Thanks šŸ™‚

    • Re: Awesome!

And that is one very interesting user pic šŸ˜‰

      • Re: Awesome!

I don’t think it is what you are thinking but then I might be thinking a bit crookedly šŸ˜‰

  • Cool picture.

WOW ! This is a really good picture.. but I guess I like this better .. this one is just too good.

    • Re: Cool picture.

Yes I liked that one too. After this one though.Amazing job tarique!

      • Re: Cool picture.

Thanks, Like I wrote I like it as well but it is not easily recognisable without the context of other pictures

        • Re: Cool picture.

Never knew you were this good at photography. Too cool.

  • Cool Snap !! The light in the photograph is what makes it a killer..Great shot.

    • Thanks – who would have thought that a flashlight can thus illuminating šŸ˜‰

  • wow. the lighting is awesome. The last one is easily the best.

    • Thanks – the last one was also the easiest one to take šŸ™‚

  • The picture is simply brilliant, its now my current wallpaper-centered, I normally just use plain black. The smaller version of the picture is must better thou’, the bigger onez alised a bit.

    • Thanks, I have a 1280×960 version – yes the larger version probably did not antialias well when resizing

  • Hi Tariq, I have sent an email at info@sanisoft. I didn’t see your email ID in LJ profile but found that id by snooping around.
    Excellent work!

    • Thanks for the compliment – have added you as a friend

  • =P

    HAH very very nice!!!
I’ll never catch you in photochallenge
However I love seeing your images.
I hope you and your family are surviving the heat, I have been thinking of you all.

    • Thanks for the compliment and thoughts – yes we will survive well, temperature yesterday was just a bit less and is predicted to continue declining

  • Neat!

    Look who’s playing with Aasim’s toys! šŸ˜›

It’s simply magnificent. For some reason, I like this smaller picture better here than the larger version. I guess, since all the details are way too clear there, the picture loses its mysticism.

Also, if you try the split personality effect on Abu alone, rather than Aladdin… since the lil monkey’s known to display both good and bad shades every once in a while.

    • Re: Neat!

Thanks, I always play with Aasims toys as he does with mine – the computers, PDA, Camera, books – so it is even

Abu is about 2cm tall – the details are missing

  • Excellent !

Thats a great pic, well done !
