Till boredom do us apart ;)

It was summer of 1991, they were young, both of them heartbroken. Her boyfriend had copped the excuse “I love you, but I can’t marry you”, his girlfriend a bit less pathetic said “I love you but I love my dad more”. Oh! yes they were very good friends.

So they would sit through evenings at her place or his, listening to each other cribbing and songs like “Eye of the tiger” or “West Side” playing in the background. They were searching for that elusive “feel alive” feeling. Coincidentally a 15 day hang gliding camp was organized by a local adventure club. Both of them signed up. It involved getting up real early, 4:45am, driving 35km to the launch site, the last 5km of which was dirt road with gravel randomly strewn over it.

He would drive his mobike in the semi darkness, full throttle, not hitting the brakes for anything, supremely confident of his driving skills, she would cling on to the pillion seat trusting him completely. The adrenaline rush was awesome – they would then climb the hillock, sit to catch their breath, watching as the sun came up in all its glory.

On the third day she suggested something. He asked “Why?” she replied “Because I want it…” recklessness evolved into unbridled passion.

From there is took us nearly 2 years to acknowledge we were “In Love” and one more year for us to convince our parents about us being the right choice for each other – Nine years ago on 11th May, me and Swati signed that register in the court which gave us the legal status of husband and wife.

    Best Wishes!

    Hay!
Lemme have the pleasure of posting the first comment here. :)

Best wishes to both of you. Like a lot of other people, I really admire you two, the relationship you have, the maturity, the detail, the accuracy, *your* way of doing things.

Best wishes again, and best of luck for your future.

    Cheers!

Thank you very much – you make me feel really flattered.

      the accuracy

He he! we make mistakes, we make a lot of mistakes – just that we cover them up very well ;)

Heh! I was referring to the way your actions and thoughts match with what seems most appropriate. Something like… “Hmmm tarique is so correct in this. OR hay swati’s point of view is much better.” ;)

Accuracy is the word. Be it mistakes or the coverup. :p

So how are you people planning to celebrate today? Haldiram’s sweets? :-D

As for the day -its 12 noon, both men in my life are in their respecitve corners of the house. Brush karke breakfast kar liya baadi baat!!

I figured this would be the best way to wish both of you a happy anniversary at the same time. Good luck and best wishes for the next eleventy years!

That’s a good idea. The word nagpur pulls out sweet memories into my cache. :) The last time I was there was about 3 years back IIRC. You 3 are now one more reason to visit nagpur.

I didn’t say they were for *you*. Did i? Get some for Aasim / Tarique. :-p

I see your “not funny” point of view here. ;)

BTW, this is one of the few personal posts that I have come across which have an excess of 45 comments. :) You two surely are admired by a lot of people.

            Cheerio!

    Happy anniversary

Happy anniversary to both of you, talking about 11th May 1991 it was the same day I had my thread ceremony done.

One entering Brahmacharya(youth) and another couple entering grihasta(wedlock).

Hmmm , one mystery, that used to linger on in my head is solved.LOL.

Happy Anniversary! Like a good wine, every year added matures the product, enhances the good stuff, and makes the bad stuff sink to the bottom and out of sight.

Eventful day – also happens to be one in our lives. More about that in another post.

The sweetest thing I have come across today. I was sitting in my office, fuming about the situation when I clicked on Friends link and read your post. It made my Sunday. I think I have said this before but I will repeat – you two come across as a very sweet couple. [You remind me of Mad About You’s characters]

Wish you a very Happy Anniversary.

    • mythrandyr says:

You in office on a Sunday too??

( look tarique, no cribs!! *grin* )

Thank you… I guess someday I should write about how bitter our fights are lest the kids around here start thinking that marriage is really a bed of roses – but some how we have always felt that our fights are more personal and cannot be shared ;)

Yeah, there are a lot of kids reading your journal and mind you, some of them *have* grown up reading your journal, apart from other things. Now thats a very big statement, but you see, every drop helps and the ones which are colored, help change the color of the whole lot. :)

but some how we have always felt that our fights are more personal and cannot be shared

Right! Now you see… another drop in here. ;)

    Happy wedding anniversary!

Reading both yours and Swati’s journals for the last few months, I have come to the indisputable conclusion that you guys are really made for each other.

  13. kalyan says:

    Wow, congrats.

Looks like May 11th has been an imp day for many people, including me

This was the day in 1998 that I met my old girlfrind, and we went out to watch Titanic together. hehe wont go into more details here ( you know why ;) ). Also Oct 11th was the day me and noel got together too. rather that was the day we expressed each other our feelings.

All the very best for both of you. You have been an amazing couple, and personally you set a benchmark when it comes to relationships.

    Cheers..

  14. aivalli says:

I am sure some change has occured in me.

    Hi Tarique & Swati,

I wish you both a very happy marriage anniversary.

I’ll be short, from here on. Like, last time I posted on your journal we had kinda unpleasent exchanges. Well, that was the price of my truthfulness. :( ( But that matter apart, more importantly, what i’d like to tell you is, that after reading your half of the love story, I couldn’t stop my self from wishing you both luck and more (despite ‘s warning not to post on yours and her journal.)

    –nerdy

    PS : I hope you’ll like this post. :) )
