Gimme you Palm, I can’t it is attached to my wrist.

Just read that Palm Inc introduced Zire 71 for just $299. For the price it appears to be a steal for PDA beginners, it has a 640×480 camera built in and also an MP3 player. However if you have deep enough pockets (financially and actually) then Sony Clie NZ90 is the way to go. The most common comment I have heard about NZ90, and I agree, It is BIG, but the 2 mega pixel camera is decent enough to use it as your *only* digital cam as recently did. So that way even the price tag of $799 is justified.

  • Gimme gimme gimme..

    … a Clie anyday.

The Zire I last used wasn’t worth talking about although it was looking kind of clean (on the exterior)…

    • Re: Gimme gimme gimme..

The only previous Zire was a $99 entry level model for people who just wanted to try out PDAs for about 6 months or so. What you should have looked at was perhaps the Palm Tungsten T or even M515. Considering the price difference $299 and $799 I dont think we can compare Zire 71 and Clie NV90 anyways.

      • Re: Gimme gimme gimme..

I tried out the Tungsten T. Goddamn good stuff. That was one sensible move from Palm to get into the enterprise space which was previously into PocketPCs…

Didnt manage to get my paws on the M515 though!

Yeah, the price difference makes sure theres no comparison, lol.

But then, its all droolmaal for us denizens of the ‘third world’ anyways 😉

        • Re: Gimme gimme gimme..

I have a M515 which has been hijacked by my dear wife. PDAs are a day to day necessities for both of us. Actually I would be very thrilled if Palm comes with a Tungsten model which has a 2MP camera.

          • Re: Gimme gimme gimme..

I should think that they would since Tungsten is the premium model anyways.

  • The new Zire sounds pretty good. I’m surprised that there aren’t more people in my department who are taking up PDAs. There seems to be this unspoken feeling that only high level managers have PDAs (and they don’t even use it), so anyone else having a PDA is a bit of a try-hard-manager-wanna-be, which I totally disagree with 😉

I’m waiting for Sony to release a more compact version of the Clie! So far, I like the Clie, both as a digital camera and a PDA. Unfortunately, I have to pay careful attention to the stylus, as I keep slipping it out by mistake!

    • (and they don’t even use it)
Very true – and being the types who are glued to their chairs most of the day they perhaps dont even need a PDA… …
