Can just numbers describe a journal…

Can each one of you tell me why you keep a journal or a blog?

  • blog

I keep a blog to connect with other people.
I spend more time reading others blogs than updating my own.
I dont think of it as a personal diary
but as a conversation among friends.

  • for me, its to keep track of what i’ve been up to.

Getting to know some amazing people has been one great plus.

  • three years on three diff blogging platforms and still got no clue why.. at times it is force of habit, at times it is the urge to communicate to bits and bytes flowing over copper and fibre, at times it is just to say “i am quitting”. knowledge is evasive, ignorance prevails. by a comfortable margin too, in my case 🙂

  • I think I keep it for the following reasons :-
    1) So I can look back and have a laugh.
    2) Record events, memories.
    3) I can be a bit more creative.
    4) Its just fun!

    • and Oh i forgot to mention LJ friends and communities.

  • i never blogged when i was in blore.. The need to keep in touch with friends and family prompted me to start blogging..other options was email with 20 ppl on the cc list

but now that i have been doing this for sometime..i like the fact that i can get an insight into other peoples lives..their perspective on issues..their outlook..a lot of times i read blogs and it makes me think..makes me amused..i learn…

  • Right now it’s so my mother and family in the states can follow my life but really it’s not just that, i’m addicted to writing things down I think it keeps memories stronger. I also enjoy reading others maybe it fulfills something social missing in my life right now

  • my (b)log

If I am not wrong, your question is “why one keeps a log or a journal” and not “why people have lj accounts and update them regularly”. Yes, these two are different things.

For me, I think that life seems different when you think about incidents at different points of time. Your mood changes, your conditions change and you look back and see what you were going through and then you think “oh! that was so stupid of me to think like that a year back” OR “ah! I was right and its happening exactly the same way”.

Sometimes, we promise ourselves things that we would do, but then we are not able to accomplish the same and we lie to ourselves. A log would show you your own self whenever you want to look at yourself and I think sometimes this is important because its too easy to get lost in the day to day “gulata” that we go through.

  • My refuge / meeting up with friends ..

  • I do it for two reasons –
    1) To keep a record of what’s up with my life.
    2) It helps me to find solutions and ponder on problems.
