The telephone bills are going to be horrendously high from April on wards 80 paisa per minute is not funny…. …. we have to get some kind of broad band by then or we are doomed. We will end up paying something like US$350 to 500 per month an increase of 100%

Our city has DSL as well as Cable Internet BUT for technical and bureaucratic reasons our office (and home) cannot get it as yet. We spend almost 8-10 hours daily on the net using dial-up connections, this if billed by the minute it will mean a huge amount
Oh. We use dialup because ADSL or cable can be quite expensive. Fortunately, we don’t have timed local calls in Australia.

Lucky you, now we will be paying Rs0.80 per min for local call earlier it was Rs0.40, not only that the more you use the higher rates you have to pay where as Cable Internet can be as cheap as Rs750 per month.

I guess these are growing pains of an emerging economy where things are still getting balanced out…. ….
